As you’re starting to plan your party attire for this weekend, I’ve decided to throw some inspiration at you: Blake Lively’s infamous black sequined blazer outfit that she wore to the Ritz in Paris (to hang out with Karl Lagerfeld), a refreshingly hip and fun take on the going out look. While everyone else is wearing a little black dress, you’ll be cool and crisp in a hot little blazer with sequins all over.
There are 4 key ingredients to successfully create this look:
#1: A Black Blazer
A silky, black blazer is the essential piece for this look. I love the sequin encrusted one by Literature Noir (RevolveClothing.com, $169). Equally as flattering but a little bit more affordable is the sequin blazer from VictoriasSecret.com ($89). However, you don’t HAVE to have sequins on the blazer (they can be on the shorts, or the shirt). By going this route, I recommend something like the Form & Function Blazer (Anthropologie.com, $128).
#2: Black High Waist Shorts
Here are 2 pairs of black shorts: the first being of a high waist cut with pleats and a lovely belt that ties in the front (Marc Jacobs Iris Shorts, Bloomingdales.com, $159). These would compliment the two sequin jackets above. The second pair of shorts is from BCBG, with dazzling sequins all over ($58.80).
#3: Black Dress Heels
Blake Lively went with a pair of Volnay Sandals by Christian Louboutin (EBAY), but in case you can’t shell out over $600, I have 3 other options for you. First, a pair of vegan lace up pumps (Enchantment, Olsen Haus, $245) pictured in the top left. Second are a pair of lace up heels by Free People, for only $40 (bottom left). And last is a pair of wooden sandals by Black Rooster (Zappos.com, $129).
#4: A White Blouse
To complete the look, you just need a simple white blouse to go underneath the blazer. Any button up will do, like French Connection’s ‘Stitched Up’ blouse (Bluefly.com, $40). Or for a more stylish pick, go with the Barlow Lattice-Back Button-Up Shirt, which will be even more stylish when you take off your jacket! (Saks Fifth Avenue, $111).
